Escape from it all and slip into rejuvenating French country living. The Chateau is a grand estate dating back to 1684. The 19th c. Guard's House rests quietly in the heart of 40 acres of woods, orchards and a calming pond. We also offer an enchanting stay in the chateau. The property provides a comfortable retreat for exploring the chateaux and vineyards of the Loire valley. Discover the ancient region of Anjou, one of the richest and most beautiful in France.

The Guard's House: is a charming 19th century farmhouse with all modern conveniences. Enjoy life on a French castle property from the privacy and quiet of your own house. Perfect for a family or group, the house has two floors, four bedrooms, one bathroom and all the comfort of a genteel French country cottage. Private garden, oak-panelled dining room and a generous salon.

Notes: Very good French country restaurants minutes away. Excellent 18 hole golf nearby (10 km's). Tennis court/swimming pool and lovely walks along the Sarthe River within 5 minutes. Bike rentals, 5 minutes. Fishing along the Sarthe with fishing license (10 euros).


The Chateau: If you've ever dreamed of spending time with your family or friends in the grandeur of a vast country estate, it is now possible to rent the entire chateau. The chateau offers seven luminous, recently refurbished bedrooms, all with private bath. Rooms are stylishly decorated with comfortable antiques and bathrooms elegantly appointed with state-of-the-art retro fittings. A magnificent oak-carved library, a grand 18th century salon, and a truly royal gallery await the weary, discerning traveller. The splendour of bygone ages matched comfortably with all the conveniences on modern life.

Locally: Historic beauty Anjou in the Loire Valley is the home of the magnificent chateaux of the Kings of France -- easily accessible, visit Chateau d'Angers, Chateau Plessis-bourre, Montgeoffroy, Chateau Serrant, Brissac, Chinon, Azay-le-Rideau, Villandry, Usse, Chateau Sache (Balzac's house), Langeais and the stunning Abbey at Fontevraud. Also, Chenonceau, Blois, Amboise, Chambord, Cheverny and many more.

Daytrips and wine: Angers, our nearest large town, is a lovely, clean medieval city with museums, loads of restaurants, quaint pedestrian-only streets and the famous Apocalypse Tapestry housed at the 11th century Angers castle. Other delightful towns: Saumur, Montsoreau, Montreuil-Bellay. Driving tours along the Loire, the Sarthe and Loire rivers, all dotted with picture perfect towns and hamlets. Daytrips to the pristine beaches of La Baule (1.5 hours) and the coast of Brittany. And last but not least, tour the nearby vineyards at Chinon, Bourgueil, Saumur, the Coteaux du Layon, Savennieres.

Located: in the Loire Valley, UNESCO World Heritage site, 20 minutes north of Angers, a vibrant, medieval city. Airports: Angers-Marce, Nantes, Tours. TGV in Angers (high speed train), 1.5 hours from Montparnasse Paris. 20 minutes from A11 (autoroute).
