Description
The manor house is twenty minutes south of Bergerac, an 18th century country manor house set in a peaceful park with a small lake fed by a stream, in lovely valley countryside where you can walk or cycle for miles along country lanes without hardly meeting a soul.

The pretty little medieval village of Issigeac is 3 km from here and has a variety of shops and an especially good Sunday morning market, packed with every imaginable seasonal thing from foie gras and farm made cheeses to kilos of apricots and cherries, a dozen different kinds of lettuce, home baked cakes, tarts and wine, to garden plants and wicker baskets. It is quite a social occasion, when people come in from miles around as much to meet friends as to shop, to sit together in a cafe and catch up with news, or perhaps have lunch at the restaurant across from the old château.

Accommodation
The west wing of the house has been made into comfortable, private accommodation, furnished with period county furniture with its own access. Guests have exclusive use of the swimming pool and tennis court.

There is a large open main room on the ground floor with a huge stone fireplace and original wood finishings, satellite television and hi-fi, a downstairs WC and two double bedrooms with four poster beds and en-suite bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, oven and a large fridge. A washing machine and dryer are available in the laundry room.

An oak staircase leads upstairs to three other bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite bathroom, the other two have shower rooms. The wing also has heating if needed.

There are eight acres bordered by a river to wander about in and a private terrace with outside furniture and a barbecue. Apart from the pool and tennis court, there is a volley ball pitch and a golf practice range in the field.

Activities
There are three golf courses within 15 to 30 minutes of the house, one of which is a Country Club with excellent facilities. Local riding stables can organise treks around the countryside that cater for most levels of expertise. There are canoe hire bases and cruises on the Dordogne river, which gives you a wonderfully different perspective of this beautiful region and the private airfield near Bergerac does helicopter rides.

Each day can take you through a gorgeous landscape into a different area of the Dordogne, to see some of the châteaux and gardens of places like Milandes and Beynac, Marqueyssac or Fénélon and ancient bastide villages like Beaumont, Castillonnès, Eymet and Monpazier.

Bergerac sits on the banks of the river and has a lovely old quarter, lots of different shops and a large Saturday morning market. The vineyards on the outskirts of the town welcome visits to sample the wine and buy direct.
