The Chateau
is situated in the heart of Gascony between Bordeaux and Toulouse. Close to the
Dordogne, Atlantic coast and Pyrennees mountains, the area was revealed through
King Henri IV. Located at the end of a small cul-de-sac road, the property is
accessed through a majestic lime alley and is in a tranquil and very private
setting. The chateau is set in an extremely well tended park and gardens of two
and a half acres and surrounded by its own private estate of fields and
woodlands of ninety acres (40 hectares). Overlooking the valley, the Garonne
river and famous canal du midi, the site is ideal for families or friends. There
is a large swimming pool (6m x 12m) close to the house with a sunbathing area.
Accommodation:
Full of traditional French character, the interior is spacious and charming with
oak beams, terracotta tiles, high period painted ceilings, antiques. The house
can easily accommodate 12 adults and 2 to 4 babies and includes:

A barn full of character, close to the terrace and house, has been fully
restored and converted into a large relaxing and game room with open fireplace.
The beautiful park and the swimming pool which is bathed with sunlight
throughout the day are for your exclusive usage. The 150 sq meters terrace with
panoramic views has direct access to the swimming pool. Barbecue, teak outdoor
tables, chairs and parasols are set up for al fresco dining. As this is an
exclusive rental you will not find yourself surrounded by other holiday-makers.
All bed linen and towels are provided and changed every week. Additional
cleaning and baby sitting can be arranged at agreed rates. A telephone with
incoming calls and local calls is available. 2 cots and mattresses can be added
to the various bedrooms upon request.
The Area:
Casteljaloux across the valley from the Château has a freshwater lake with sandy
beaches. You will be able to enjoy the relaxing new thermal centre (daily passes
or weekly treatments). The area is also ideal for horse riding, boating on the
canal du midi, fishing and wine tasting. There are several beautiful golf
courses.
There are lovely local villages and lots of restaurants around the nearest town
of Marmande. It takes 1 hour by car to get to Bordeaux, whilst Nerac and Duras
are 30 minute's drive. It takes less than an hour to get to Bergerac and the
historic town of Castillon la Bataille scene of the infamous battle where the
English lost against the French towards the end of the historic 100 years war.
