Activities
The beautiful region of the Dordogne is a land of sheltered valleys and woods,
rivers, farms producing pâté de foie gras, vineyards, medieval towns and
villages, and châteaux. It is the country of truffles, walnut oil, wine and
geese, with an immensely rich tradition of cookery, and within a reasonable
distance there are many restaurants ranging from simple to gastronomic.
Faux (1 km), is our local village and has a small supermarket, boulangerie, post
office, bar and garage.
Bergerac (18 km), sits on the banks of the Dordogne river at the centre of the
wine producing areas of Bergerac, Pécharmant, Monbazillac. It is a busy town
with good shopping, cafes and restaurants and a large market on Saturday
mornings.
There is a riding school next to us, tennis courts and a lake in Lanquais (4km),
boat trips and fishing on the Dordogne (6km), and an excellent golf course with
9 and 18 holes at Château de Vigiers Country Club and Restaurant within a half
hour drive.
