Our Château
offers Golf holidays, Wine holidays, leisure holidays and with our own private
carp fishing lake - Fishing holidays. The Chateau sleeps 35 with 15 bedrooms,
all of which are en-suite. It is within 30 minutes of 20 excellent Golf courses.
10 minutes from the River Garonne and River Dordogne. And 45 minutes from the
town of Arcachon and the Atlantic Ocean. We have many quality vineyards and
wineries of the Bordeaux region nearby. Along with our own leisure facilities
like golf practise area, snooker table, table tennis, table football as well as
acres of grounds with a cave network and small river you will never be short of
things to do!
Bedrooms
- All bedrooms are en-suite with; WC, wash basin, shower or bath with
electric towel rail and razor point.
- All bedrooms have windows and general bedroom furniture plus tasteful
paintings.
- All floors are original wooden floorboards, with ceiling heights of at
least 3 metres 50 centimetres.
- Ascending the spiral staircase in the turret, the first room on the left
is the breakfast room, with ample facilities for twenty five guests to enjoy a
relaxing breakfast overlooking the courtyard and valley. Arched windows on
either side of this room make it very light.
Description
The Château is situated in a wine growing region, surrounded by woods and
undulating countryside. It sits on a hillside overlooking the valley.
The Château is Roman in style, with turrets and parts dating back to the 15th
Century. It has good access from the main road, and is adequately stoned. The
main fortified courtyard is entered though original wooden gates. The Château
has a feeling of tranquillity and privacy. It has breathtaking views over the
private lake and the adjoining valley. The Château looks out over the setting
from a balustraded terrace. There are two further tiered terraces leading down
to the lake with excellent fishing facilities. The main set of monumental steps
are reputed to have been used by Napoleon Bonaparte when he visited the village
of Haux. These steps lead down the side of the Château to the swimming pool
(30mx8m) and sun terrace with year round facilities. This area is fully child
friendly and can be viewed from the sun terrace, as can the lake.
We have facilities including a washing machine, dish washer, cooker,
refrigerator and microwave. There is also an intermittent maid service for fresh
towels and sheets. All windows have curtains and shutters but it should be noted
that this property is completely private. Through the front door, one enters the
large galleried hall with beautifully tiered granite and provincial style floor
tiles. To the left is the kitchen with a vaulted ceiling, original red floor
tiles and large stone fire place with a bread oven to the side.
To the right is the salon, with original floor tiles, huge ceilings, a
chandelier and French windows onto the terrace area. Off the salon are the
dining room and lounge. The Dining room has beautiful panelling and Louis XIV
style fireplace. The large oak dining table seats 20/22 people and has a
washroom off it.
The lounge or living room also has a huge ceiling, chandelier, an original
mirrored fireplace, two antique settees and several relaxing chairs. Here too
are French windows leading to the main terrace. From the lounge can be found the
library entrance. Here there is a deep beamed ornate ceiling with parquet
flooring, a large bookcase, a writing table, several chairs and card table.
There is a door from here leading to an original spiral staircase up to the
bedrooms.
The Château is centrally heated, with air-conditioning units where necessary.
NB: Most walls throughout the Château are 1 metre thick, so the Château does not
heat up substantially through the summer months.
Weddings in the Chapel
Finally, the Château also boasts a gorgeous medieval French chapel. A unique,
picturesque and quaint surroundings, get married in a place to remember. We can
accommodate up to 25 guests as sleeping guests in the Chateau and supply a range
of facilities for outdoor functions with room for up to 100 plus. Perfect for

Château Services and Assistance
Within the Château Grounds there is an Estate Manager, who is available to help
you during your stay. He is available to the answer the majority of your
questions, whether it be about the area, places of interest, things to do,
travel information to local attractions plus information on tours, wine tasting
and much more. He can also offer additional services to make your stay a
pleasurable and leisurely one, maximising your relaxation time.
Why worry about who is to cook and who shall chauffeur the party to a restaurant
when the Estate Manager can be your chef and host for the evening. Or if it
suits your particular arrangements, we can provide petit dejeuner (breakfast).
Also, at a small cost the Estate Manager can also provide any additional
cleaning, organising tours of local attractions, transport arrangements, fishing
lessons and a guide for local walks.
Fishing in Our Private Carp Lake
In the grounds of the Château is our very own lake. Measuring 200 metres by 60
metres with a small island in the middle. The lake holds excitable Grass Carp
and Mirror Carp sizing up to the mid 45lbs. These fish are by no means the
biggest of fish in France. But you will feel that you are fishing a truly
idyllic carp lake untouched by the peg builders and working party sessions. The
lake holds secrets that you alone must discover. Backing onto the end wall of
the chateau you can fish whilst eating your Sunday dinner. At the back of the
Château grounds runs a fresh water stream. The stream holds Trout and Sea Trout
and is a great place to get back to nature with your fishing.
Golf
As well as the huge range of facilities at the Chateau, we can also arrange a
fantastic golfing holiday to France. Golf breaks to France are available for any
number of days. At some of the finest golf courses in Europe. The Château has a
great Golf practise area. This offers a good warm up for a visit to any of the
local Golf Courses situated within 30 minutes drive from the Château. Southwest
France is a land of sunshine, wine and sport. From Bordeaux down to Biarritz,
you will find fabulous courses.
