Description
The chateau
is situated at 110 km's, west of Paris, by the National 12, at the heart of the
River Avre valley and at the gates of Normandy and the beautiful rolling
countryside of the Perche. It is close to the historical town of
Verneuil-sur-Avre. Built in the early 18th century, it is a remarkable example
of French architectural elegance. The patter of straight lines a curves of the
brick work is externally harmonious, as is its setting on the banks of the river
Avre. It is a listed Historical Monument.
At the castle, you will experience 'the life of Riley', in beautiful rooms
especially designed to give you the maximum comfort and calm. Surrounded by
trees and water and green meadows where horses graze. The Equestrian Farm in the
grounds of the château has both horses and ponies, which you can see grazing in
the park and will organise treks for riders of all levels in the Avre Valley. Or
you can simply hire a horse and ride on the property. Owners, if they are able
to, are welcome to bring their own horse, which can be stabled or put out to
graze with the others.
There is good fishing in the river and we can provide rods. Verneuil-sur-Avre, a
short drive from here has all essential shops and there are a good choice of
restaurants within a reasonable distance, especially deeper into Normandy, if
you are prepared to travel a little.
A totally independent apartment of 200 sq. meters is situated on the ground and
first floor of the main part of the Château. On the first floor, 3 big bedrooms
with antique blended with today's comfort, provide a wonderful view on to the
Park. Two of these bedrooms have alcoves with double beds, and one has a private
bathroom and toilet, the third provides three single beds. On the large landing,
there is a small sitting room space and another bathroom and toilet.
Downstairs a door leads directly on to the Park, where you will find garden
furniture and barbecue. Should evening be a little chilly, especially after
dinner, there is a comfortable sitting room, with television and hi-fi
equipment, where you can relax before a log fire or have a game of pool.
