Description
This classical 16th to 18th century manoir lies beside the Loire river in five hectares of lovely park and gardens on the outskirts of a village, 15 kms from Orleans, close to several of the great Renaissance châteaux of the Loire Valley. The interior is elegantly furnished with period furniture and paintings that have been handed down and collected over a period of many years and there is a marvellous sense of peace and continuity here.

The village has a variety of shops and several restaurants including one particularly good one. Orleans, minutes away by car, has everything and more, and evidence of its link with the Maid of Orleans is everywhere. It is also the centre for the wine produced in the vineyards surrounding the city and there are several places where you can taste. The pleasures of Paris are little more than an hour from here.

The manoir has a large entrance hall and a huge, well furnished salon with a fireplace. There is a library with a grand piano, a dining room and a study with a small sitting room with doors opening onto the terrace overlooking the river.

The kitchen is fully equipped with oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave amongst other things, there is a washing machine and the house has television and telephone. There is also a downstairs WC and bathroom.

Upstairs are four double bedrooms, one bathroom, one shower room, WCs and a sauna.

The garden is beautifully kept in the traditional style with avenues of topiary, lawns and shady centuries old trees. The terrace looks onto the river and there is garden furniture.

Activities
There are three golf courses within a radius of 15 kms, one at Ferté St Aubin, another is the Baron Bic course at Les Bordes 25 kms away. You can take balloon flights and see some of the countryside and hidden châteaux from the air, or hire canoe/kayaks, fish and even swim in the river.

The massive Château de Chambord is 25 kms from here, worth seeing for its awesome size alone. The Cheverny vineyards are to the south of Chambord and the château has some magnificent paintings and a hunting museum. Further south still is Valençay and its splendid formal gardens and another chance to taste the wine at local vineyards. The château at Blois was in many ways a forerunner of Versailles and the old part of the town itself is charming.

Meung-sur-Loire, 6 kms, and Beaugency, 10 kms, are two attractive, typical villages on the banks of the Loire, each with their own château, and there are others deep in the Orleans forest.
