The Chateau: It is set back from the Seine in 150 hectares of parkland, twenty of which are private park and gardens, where deer wander freely and where boar, goats and other animals inhabit the ancestral woods as they have done for generations. There are marvellous 180 degree views stretching for 30 km's around, seen from the salon, the bedrooms, and the terrace where Louis danced with Madame de Pompadour. The château has a tennis court and a billiard table for quiet evenings at home. There is a good selection of shops 15 minutes away and Disneyland Paris is 45 minutes from here. The castle is first and foremost a house that has a great family feeling about it, where everyone can feel comfortable and relaxed. The rooms are large with 18th century bas-relief columns, decorated in a warm, early 20th century style with period furnishings. Two salons and the dining room open directly onto the terrace and gardens. The kitchen is huge and remains delightfully original in style. It is fully equipped with an oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, a microwave, three fridges and two freezers. There is a small children's dining room next to it. There are four large double bedrooms with bathrooms and seven smaller bedrooms with bathrooms. Ideal for two or three families or a group of friends.

Activities: The open country of the Marne valley just southeast of Paris is the home of brie cheese, of which brie de Melun is one of the most famous. Still moulded by hand and delicious with a good Bordeaux, you can't stay here and not try some! The Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte lies just northeast of Melun, 20 minutes from the chateau. Quite magnificent, it literally paved the way for the building of Versailles. The glory of Vaux is not only the architecture but the whole harmonious effect of the moated château and gardens. Perhaps the best time to visit is when on one evening a week between May and October, the château is dazzlingly lit with thousands of candles. A day or two spent in and around Fontainebleau, again 20 minutes from the chateau, is perhaps the most satisfying of all. A perfect balance of châteaux, both royal and private, varied, beautiful forested countryside and charming villages made famous by 19th century landscape painters such as Millet, Rousseau and Alfred Sisley.

Location: Paris is 35 minutes from the chateau by car or train. The city is constantly reinventing itself, exhilarating, avant-garde, romantic, it will give you whatever it is you are looking for, and is still the place to fall in love.

Receptions: 20 hectares of parkland surrounded the lovely chateau which can be rented for private receptions, weddings or family events, seminars. The chateau can guest up to 50 people in its reception rooms, and its lovely 100 m2 terrace overlooking the Seine river and the countryside. You can choose the caterer of your choice and we will do our best to make your reception a success.
